How Mini-Vaporizers Work

If you own a mini-vaporizer, it probably works just like the rest of them.  The ego style systems are no exception to this method.  Though, recent innovations in the market may have come up with different, but not necessarily better, designs that will be an exception to this rule.  While this may be the case for the newest (and most expensive) handheld vaporizers, most comsumer vapes will work the same way.

As I have previously explained, an atomizer is a device that changes a solid or liquid into a very fine vapor/gas.  In mini-vaporizers, the atomizer is a simple coil of wire.  This coil is usually wrapped around some type of silica wick or mesh.  This wick soaks up the liquid and transports it to the heating coil.  When the coil is heated it vaporizes the liquid.

The atomizer is contained in a cartomizer or clearomizer.  Cartomizers and clearomizers are very similar.  The main difference between the two is cartomizers normally use a sponge type material to retain the liquid, while clearomizers do not use this filler material.  Clearomizers are also usually clear, hence the name clearo mizer.

This diagram helps comprehend the basic design of a cartomizer.

This clearomizer is a top coil cartomizer and uses the long wicks to move the juice to the coil. It also has a replaceable atomizer, which is highly suggested. I know the picture says "rebuildable" but, it is deceiving.  You can buy replacement atomizers at a very low cost, normally only $1.99.
